Star Buy of the Week

This weeks star buy of the week is from.... The Bodyshop!

I purchased the Drops of Youth Peel from my local store as I was looking for something new to try out, and this was the product suggested to me by a staff member in store after I told her I was interested in something for exfoliating my face.

My go to product for smooth, clear skin is St Ives apricot scrub, but I was interested in finding something a little more gentle for my skin for weeks when it was already clear and not in need of too much help.

The Drops of Youth peel is new in stores, and is £18 for a 145ml pump bottle. Although this is a little pricey, a little goes a long way and you can collect points on your purchases on your Bodyshop Love Your Body Club card. A plus side of having one of these cards even if you don't really use it much is that on your birthday month every year you get £5 to redeem in store against anything you like! This year I used mine for a beautiful liquid lipstick, which I ended up paying just £1 for after I redeemed my birthday voucher. I also received a free lip butter (worth £4.50) in store because it was one of the weeks O2 priority moments, so it was a great trip all round for me!

For more information about the Love Your Body Club and how it could benefit you, CLICK HERE.

I've used the Youth Peel a few times now and am very pleased with the results. The product is very gentle but you can instantly see the amazing results! It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, with an even skin tone and gently removes any excess oil that seems to haunt me these days!

Gross but satisfying...

It gently exfoliates and removes dead skin and built up oil from your face, leaving you with a lovely, natural glow. For best results, it is suggested you use 2 pumps of the product, 2-3 times a week. You dispense 2 pumps of the product onto clean, dry hands and gently massage onto your face in small circular motions for approximately 20 seconds. You will know when to stop because the dead skin cells that are removed from your face will build up in little clumps - that is the sign to rinse your face thoroughly and pat dry.

If you're looking for a gentle way to remove dry, dead skin or even your skin tone, this product is definitely one you need to try for yourself! It is ideal for sensitive skin, but if you're still not sure you can go in store and have a demo, and ask to take a sample home for yourself to try before you commit to spending £18 on a bottle.

Let me know how you get on!

Lipstick That Loves You Back

This week I had the chance to try one of Burt's Bees new lipsticks and I can't begin to tell you all how impressed I am.

I tried out a vivid red shade called 520 Scarlet Soaked - I lined my lips with MAC Redd lipliner before I applied the lipstick just because I prefer to do so usually. However I found the lipstick didn't smudge or bleed so would be suitable to wear without liner if that's your preference.

This shade is just one of 18 colours in the new range of lipsticks Burt's Bees have released. Not only is there a great variety of beautiful colours to choose from, but the products themselves are made from 100% natural ingredients including bees wax, raspberry seed oil and moringa oil.

The product claims to give 8 hour moisture without need for reapplication, and I can completely vouch for this. I applied the lipstick at 3pm before I left home to meet friends. When I arrived home just before midnight, the colour was still bright and my lips were still feeling super soft despite the fact I had spent my evening eating, drinking and chatting away.

Immediately after I had applied the lipstick

Halfway through the evening
At the end of the night!

Without a doubt, the staying power of this product is amazing, and even better, when I removed my make up at the end of the night, it had hardly stained my mouth at all which was a pleasant surprise.

The only real difference in the product at the start of the evening compared to the end is that where some of it had worn away, the smooth satin finish of the product had begun to look more matte, but this isn't something I minded as I tend to prefer matte looks anyway.

The packaging and casing for the lipsticks, is super cute -  I absolutely love the honeycomb texture to the lipstick casing.

The lipsticks costs £9.99 each and they're available to buy on the Burt's Bees website, and are stocked online and in store at John Lewis.

Best of all, there is currently 25% off any lip colour purchases at using the code BBLIPSTICK25. This offer is valid until 31/05/2017 so if you want to try it for yourself, there's no better time than now!

I've already got my eye on one of the beautiful nude shades so I've got every excuse to buy one now....

Worlds Most Painful Face Mask

As a big lover of face masks, after seeing a Buzzfeed video of people trying out a product dubbed "the worlds most painful face mask", and being the weirdo that I am, I knew I had to try it. The product in question is the Hell Pore Clean Up Mask by Elizavecca Milkypiggy. (A mouthful I know!)

After a quick google search I found I was able to purchase it from Amazon for £12.40 with free shipping.

For those of you that don't know, Elizavecca are a Korean skincare company that are best known for their weird and wonderful products. Their packaging is super cute and colourful, and the products they sell are unlike those you can purchase in the UK. You can tell if the products you've purchased are authentic by the Elizavecca Original stamp on the side of the box, which has a foil part you can scrape away to reveal the serial number beneath.

Authenticity Stamp

Another of their better known products is the Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask, which is definitely next on my list to try!! This is also available to purchase on Amazon for the price of £25.72 with free UK delivery for a three pack.

I was super excited when the product arrived, and ended up using it straight away. I washed my face and applied the mask which was more difficult than I though it would be because of the thick, sticky consistency of the product. The second time I used the product I used a clean, medium sized flat foundation brush to apply it with which made life a lot easier.

"This isn't too bad"

"Oh wait, I have to take it off still..."

The suggested waiting time was 15-20 minutes, but I ended up having to wait closer to 30 for it to be completely dry. When it came to testing the edges to see if it was ready to peel off, I immediately realised why it was supposedly so painful. The mask sticks to and rips out any facial hair you have, no matter how fine and minimal it may be.

It felt as if I was having my whole face waxed. At one point I felt my soul leave my body.

As I peeled the mask away from my face, it sounded as if I was pulling two pieces of velcro apart. Gone were the days I'd ever have to worry about a lady moustache because all facial hair was gone, along with three layers of my skin. All I kept thinking was I'd save a fortune on cosmetics and beauty products in the future because I didn't have much of a face left to apply them to.

This mask is supposed to be great at clearing black heads from the nose area. I found it removed some of them but not the majority much to my disappointment. I was half hoping I would get the same results as the viral videos on Facebook where the mask came off covered in black heads and grime, but on the plus side it meant there wasn't enough dirt in my pores to be pulled out.

After using the mask, my skin was left feeling soft and looking quite clear. A plus side of the effectiveness of this product is that it removes any dull, dead skin cells left on the surface, leaving skin appearing brighter and clearer.

I will definitely continue to use this product, as I found it effective at helping to balance my oily skin on the days I used it, so I think it would be ideal to use before I apply my make up on days where I need it to last longer without the need to blot/touch up.

All in all it was a very interesting and painful experience but I would not recommend this to those of you with sensitive skin because it is very harsh.

As always feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments!

Star Buy of the Week

Last week I was browsing Depop and I absolutely fell in love with the sassiest rhinestone choker- I knew I had to have it. I came across it on a Depop store called @badandboujiuk who I discovered stock some insanely beautiful and unique accessories.

I opted for a 5 row rhinestone silver choker, which was super affordable at only £6 including postage and packaging. My item took less than a week to arrive which was great because I had the perfect outfit planned to wear it with when I made a trip to London this week.

I paired the choker with a rock inspired t shirt from New Look which I bought 3 sizes too big and wore as a dress (only £6 in the sale!), with black tights, black Nike theas and a green Brixton Mfg jacket.

The choker itself is adjustable so if you were looking to purchase one yourself but were unsure on sizing, it shouldn't be an issue. This item can be worn dressed up or, in my case, down. I have a few more outfits in mind I can't wait to pair it with. It is definitely a bold, statement piece but it's very versatile with how you could style it.

Kim K, Gigi Hadid and Rihanna have been spotted recently sporting similar styles, so rhinestone chokers are definitely an easy and affordable way to bring something from this season into your wardrobe.

As you may all know, Depop is one of my favourite apps, so I would definitely recommend checking it out for those of you who haven't yet. It's an easy to use, mobile shopping app where you can buy and sell - I describe it to friends as eBay meets Instagram. Below I have included a few more of my favourite items from the @badandboujiuk shop, so if you fall in love with them like I did, I would definitely recommend you check them out soon because their stock is very popular!

Star Buy of the Week

I've decided to start something a bit new!

As you can probably guess from the title of this post, I'm going to be including a post on a weekly basis, of my favourite products I think you should all know about. This week I purchased (another!) new highlighter on a whim. I was in Superdrug browsing the make up section for false lashes when I saw it and knew I had to buy it.

It's a cream stick type highlighter from the MUA deluxe range - exclusive to Superdrug. For those of you who don't know, MUA are a super affordable company with prices starting from just £1! They stock everything from lipsticks and mascaras to contour kits and eyeshadow palettes - so there is something for everyone!

The highlighter I purchased is a super soft, creamy formula in stick form which makes it so easy to apply. You can literally just draw it on your face. I personally sweep it across my cheekbones and then lightly buff the edges with a stippling brush so I'm not left with any harsh edges or lines on my face.

I found this product to be quite versatile as it is ideal to use as a cream eyeshadow also. I apply it after my eye primer and then set it with a shimmery powder shadow of the same shade to keep it in place. However, that is just my preference, it looks beautiful without the additional powder on top as it is a shimmery champagne colour.

For the fact that this product only costs £3, the quality of it rivals that of other high street brands that costs three times the price.

So, there you have it. My star buy of the week.

Let me know what you think of this product in the comments box below or via my contact details at the top of the page. Would love to know what you all think, good or bad!
