My Skincare Routine

It's been little over a week since my trip to Stratford and my skincare overhaul, and I'm so happy with the difference in my skin since then!

I'd been finding recently that my skin condition had been deteriorating, which I'm sure is down to the fact I've been wearing more and more face make up. So last week whilst in London, I decided to head to some different skincare stores and see what I could find to restore my skin to its former glory.

In the end I purchased a range of affordable products from LUSH and The Body Shop, and created a new skincare routine for myself (which I've been quite good at sticking to so far!)

In just over a week, I've noticed an immediate change. My skin tone is more even, I have less redness, blemishes and spots have cleared up and my skin is generally a lot clearer and softer.

I have combination skin, I find that I get an oily T zone, but also a lot of dry patches (I suffer from eczema), which can be a bit of a nightmare because products that may be suited to dry skin aren't good for the oily parts of my face and vice versa!

My new routine takes a few more minutes than my old, wash-my-face-in-the-shower-and-slap-loads-of-moisturiser-on -when-I-get-out method, but I'm so pleased with the results already!

So I thought I'd share with you guys what my new skincare plan is. It's simple, affordable and has made the world of difference so I hope this knowledge can be of some use to others!

I follow this routine twice a day usually, in the morning when I wake up and at night before I go to bed, but if I take off my make up during the day or have a shower in the afternoon sometime (I'm a student, I'm allowed to be lazy!), then I will do it additionally on these occasions too.

I take a cotton pad and soak it with Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, wiping it all over my face, removing any excess oil, make up etc. I make sure to particularly press firmly around my nose to clear out my pores, and I find that this product is good at hydrating any dryer patches of skin on my face.

Once this has dried I take a fresh cotton pad and cover it with The Body Shop Vitamin E Toner and repeat this process.

When that's dried, I take another clean pad, and apply a generous amount of The Body Shop Drops of Youth Essence Lotion and repeat the process, covering my entire face, making sure to really concentrate on the dryer areas of my skin. If my face is particularly dry on that day, and it soaks up the lotion almost immediately, I may apply a second layer of the lotion.

(What's so great about this product is that a little goes a really long way, and The Body Shop don't test their products on animals which is always a plus!)

When the lotion has been applied and is dry, my skin always feels soft, clean and fresh, without any tightness or dry areas. This is when I apply a generous layer of my favourite moisturiser.

I use Simple Kind to Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser which I find is so good because a little goes a long way, it's super affordable and it's not made with any harsh chemicals or perfumes that may leave your face feeling irritated or aggravated. It's also a very build-able product, so if you apply a layer and your face soaks it up, you can apply another layer immediately because of how light and refreshing it is.

Every 2 days I've been using LUSH's Angels on Bare Skin to clean my face, and that's it!

It's really important to me that my skin stays in great condition because I like to go make up free often, and without clear skin I don't feel confident enough to do that as often as I would like. Then by feeling insecure, I'll wear more face make up to cover my bad skin and then that causes more blemishes and I'm left in a vicious circle!

I would 100% recommend these products, but if in doubt or if you have any questions, it's best to go in and have a skin consultation somewhere so you can get good advice on how best to deal with your skin, because everyone's skin is different!

I'd love to hear what your thoughts, on these products or any other recommendations you may have! Feel free to contact me via the details at the top of my page, or to leave me a comment below!
